SIT IN THE SOLUTION (NOT THE PROBLEM): When life

SIT IN THE SOLUTION (NOT THE PROBLEM):

When life or business throws you a curve ball:
- sit in the solution (don’t sit in the problem)
- swiftly move from awareness to action
- build a game-plan

The recent NAR lawsuit and settlement forced our industry to make changes. Our brokerage responded with a 4-part game-plan:
1. Early Adoption - we knew we wanted to be an early adopter because change would not happen over night. Our DBs goal was practice, not perfection.
2. Resource Redesign - we reviewed, revamped and re-designed tools and resources, where appropriate (and re-marketed them).
3. Create Confidence - we took inventory of our agents experience of, and exposure to, the new requirements. We elevated the quantity and quality of our education/training offering. We executed classes, masterminds, panels, videos leaning in SMEs and field-application….to fill some gaps that existed. Knowledge received = confidence achieved.
4. All Hands on Deck - we engaged our entire support team, every department - broker, ops, marketing, comm, development. Our mission: no agent left behind. Our interactive task-organized spreadsheet captures all of it!

Every month we bring our top-10 real estate agents and teams together for a collaborative learning-discussion. Each month, the groups’ conversation is so organic and unique. This month was one of my favorites….

1. The antidote to jealousy & judgment
- Feelings of judgment or jealousy are common.
- Acknowledge those - judgement or jealousy - thoughts/emotions as they happen.
- Don’t ignore it! Do the opposite. Face it head-on….recognize it, thank it or congratulate it - literally! IE if you are scrolling on IG and find out that someone is taking a vacation to Hawaii - which is exactly what you’ve wanted - and that feeling of jealousy pops up: comment or DM them a “congrats.”
2. Mental toughness
- Recognize when you are spiraling down, break the cycle to spiral up. Recognize. Reset. Reverse.
- Stop negotiating with yourself.
- Know what you can control. Control, what you can control. Let go of the rest.
- Hire a coach when you are feeling good (not in despair) so your coaching starts with a strong baseline. #
3. Coaching in the mirror
- Our memory isn’t always accurate. Our recollection of a past event is “true” 50% of the time.
- Start to increase your awareness, in the present-moment, of yourself; watching yourself more carefully to increase recall accuracy.
- Be a witness to your words, attitude or actions. Are your words, attitude or actions going to give you more of what you want (or don’t want)?
- Write a love note to yourself.
- Know what time of day you possess your highest energy and focus - and, sync your activities/tasks accordingly.

Full of joy, end of school year activities (a first-honors award 🤩), grad-celebrations, family, friends & to top it off - an awesome Mom/son trip to Newport Beach.

REWRITE YOUR STORY, THEN REWRITE IT AGAIN:

I'm challenging the norm and forgetting the mantra, “if it ain't broke, don’t fix it.”

Instead, I find myself questioning everything I do—and asking myself “why?”. I am simply establishing a new baseline as I evolve.

Last year, I realized that what “got me here” wouldn't get me to "there".

I downshifted from a high-speed gear to focus on the things that bring true joy – my family, room for creativity, adventure. I prioritized my family with the best of my time, I saw more of the world than I have in the last decade, and made room for spontaneity

And in doing so, I learned an invaluable lesson. We have the ability to BE, DO, & HAVE anything we want (yes, that includes you).

Granted, this does not come without focus, purpose, and hard work. Often, this feels like running into a fire when others are running out.

But I encourage you to embark in a relentless pursuit of yourself and your "why". How will you rewrite your story?
